In the past couple of years CHS has spent some time updating our studio. A few of the recent hardware purchases include the Sytek MPX - 4A (with Burr Brown op amps) and Neve 5024 mic preamps. And the WA-412 4 channel mic preamps by Warm Audio. We have also added the world class Burl B2 A/D & D/A converters to our signal path. New microphones include the Lauten LT-386 (seen above), Royer R 121, a stereo pair of Neumann KM 184's, and a stereo pair of AKG C414 XLS mics. Also included is the Shure 7B which is a great workhorse microphone. CHS has recently added the very powerful CS450 PC and the Universal Audio Apollo 16 MKll interface for high end remote recording. Monitoring is done on our new Focal 65's.
Some of the new software includes UAD which gives us a number of powerful plugins to work with on your next project. Izotope Ozone Mastering version 7 software, along with the Rx6 Ozone repair software, is also available. Celemony's Melodyne version 4 software is available to fix a number of issues if needed. We also have a large collection of Waves and Soundtoy plugins.
Feel free to call and make an appointment to check out what we have done for others and what we can do for you.

CHS is also working through a very busy recording schedule. We had the pleasure of recording Tom Marko's first release as a bandleader - Inner Light - a record everyone should have in their collection. This cd was released last year on Summit Records. For more information about Tom and his group check out their website - http://www.tommarko.com/
CHS has also finished recording projects with Snake Oil Salesman - a fine local blues band - Bill Hill, Greg Harris, IC Jazz Train, and we just finished a project with Scott Dahms entitled Tales of a Rusted Compass. Scott lives in Denver, CO so CHS got to spend a week in that great state working on an amazing project. We worked with some wonderful musicians on this record including Wade Krause, Jeff Graves, and Leftover Salmon's original keyboardist Joe Jorgerst. Much fun was had during the recording and CHS delivered the final mix in October. Check out samples on our Listen page.
We also had the great opportunity to work on Elizabeth Geyer's newest release - The Bridge. Produced by Elizabeth and Paul Adams with some great guest musicians including David Hoffman and Pravin Godkhindi. The Bridge is a beautiful collection of songs from the heart. Please go to www.elizabethgeyer.com for more information about this and all of Elizabeth's music.
Sarah & the Underground released their first recording in April of 2018. This self titled record also features Brandon Mooberry on bass & Nick Fairley on drums/percussion. CHS was proud to mix this live concert from their television debut on State & Water St.
The Derel Monteith Trio is scheduled to release their new record-with the working title of "Quantity of Life" - in late 2018. This jazz trio is as good as it gets. CHS will let you know when this much anticipated recording is available.
Cedar Hills Sound has also had a very busy year producing live concerts. Once again we were providing the audio for Kelleher’s St. Patrick’s Day event. This is our fifth year working this celebration and it is becoming one of our favorites. Over twelve thousand people show up throughout the day to have a great time at one of the best restaurant / venues in the Peoria area. CHS will provide sound for Kelleher's annual 4th of July celebration. Every year this event brings 4 to 6 thousand people downtown to take part in our nations birthday. Please come join us again this year.

CHS had a great time working with Maria Schneider for the Mirza Residency Program. The concert was at the Orpheum Theater in Galesburg, IL. The Orpheum has recently installed a new sound system that includes the Allen & Heath GLD 112 console. The house sound is fantastic. CHS was the first to engineer a major jazz event on this desk.
The winter jazz series concert was held at Kresge Hall at Knox College. This year's artists was Chicago Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble. This concert was simply amazing. Knox College continues to bring world class musicians to central Illinois.
On April 14, 2018 CHS came back to the Orpheum theater to work with Matt Ulery's Loom featuring a string quartet from the Knox/Galesburg Symphony Orchestra. An audio sample of that concert can be found on the Listen page. Rootabaga 38 also featured Greg Ward & Ten Tongues on Friday night at the Fat Fish Pub.
On April 27, 2018 CHS worked with Lucious Spiller. Lucious came to Bloomington/Normal for one show that was the talk of the town. CHS recorded this very special event.
On June 9, in conjunction with the Peoria Park District & the Central Illinois Jazz Society, CHS will be helping with production duties at the 4th annual Peoria Jazz & Arts Festival. Our featured artist this year is world renowned trumpeter Marquis Hill. Also on the festival lineup are some of the areas finest local & regional groups. More on them later.
